What is Melanotan I?

Melanotan I (afamelanotide) is a linear α-MSH analogue with high MC1R selectivity. It is used in laboratory research to study eumelanin synthesis, photoprotection and melanocortin-receptor pharmacology, with a cleaner receptor profile than Melanotan II.
